Historically, the "Lucky Bag" is an artifact steeped in maritime tradition. At the end of a journey sailors would reach into the Lucky Bag and retrieve "treasures" believed to have been lost at sea by other sailors. The U.S. Navy has continued this tradition throughout modern history; in fact, "Lucky Bag" is the official name of the annual yearbook of the United States Naval Academy.
Lucky Bags are also a wish for good luck in life within Asian cultures. It is believed that the gifts enclosed are complete surprises to those fortunate enough to select from the bag. The mysterious gifts within the Lucky Bag transcend the tangible and are mostly comprised of life altering experiences and opportunities.
